ABOUT MY GOLD AWARD

Let’s be honest, during quarantine online shopping turned into a pastime. I, like many others, bought cheap, trendy clothing from stores like SheIn and Forever 21. I did not pay any attention to the ethics of  the companies. I had heard many rumors circulated around many of the brands I buy from discussing fast fashion and sweatshops. I did some research, and I was horrified that I was supporting companies that did not care about the environment or their workers.
When coming up with my Gold Award project, my decision was clear: more people need to know the truth behind large companies manufacturing. My goal is to teach others how to successfully avoid fast fashion. While it is almost impossible to avoid it completely because of how widespread this problem is, it is possible to limit support and purchases from non-sustainable companies.
